Vøringsfossen Viewpoints & Step Bridge

The modern Vøringsfossen visitor project links viewpoints around the gorge with secured paths, stairs and a dramatic step bridge. Architect Carl-Viggo Hølmebakk designed the project for Norwegian Scenic Routes.

Connections are seasonal

The step bridge

The bridge opened in 2020 and crosses the gorge as a flight of 99 steps. It is a walking connection and viewpoint, not a level footbridge. Wet or icy conditions can make it unsuitable or lead to closure.

Fossli viewpoints

The Fossli side provides high views toward the waterfall and valley. Use the marked route from the open parking area and read current signs before continuing toward the bridge.

Fossatromma viewpoints

Fossatromma gives access to another part of the developed viewing route. When the complete connection is open, visitors can experience changing angles instead of treating one platform as the only viewpoint.

Safety and accessibility

The official route uses well-secured paths and safety fences. That does not remove the risks of steep terrain, slippery spray, stairs or sudden weather. Step-free access exists to parts of the upper area, but not across every connection.
